Congratulations to the Oxford English Dictionaries editors, who last November made “selfie” their word of the year – and quickly followed by world leader approval (see Nelson Mandela’s funeral).  But not long after selfie hit the lexicon lingo, “belfie” – a photographic self-portrait featuring the buttocks, usually posted by female celebrities on social media networks – then crept in to the media vernacular. But there are limits – aren’t there? No, apparently not – next up was the “lelfie”.

And the pins for this particular lelfie – which, by the blur on them, is not so easy to do with a film camera – belongs to yours truly, and taken during a day at the gee-gees at Emerald Downs. And for those of a certain age (ahem!), you will, of course, remember that the original lelfies were Legs & Co, a popular dance troupe on Top of the Pops, who took over – after a brief flirtation with the ill-fated Ruby Flipper – when Pan’s People finally retired their dance cards.
